Threads, a social app by Meta's Instagram team, introduce hashtags to enhance user engagement. The feature allows users to categorize posts by interest or theme, initially rolling out in Australia. Users can tag posts with '#,' making tags clickable with blue links.
Threads,
a social platform developed by Meta's Instagram team, is gearing up to
revolutionize user engagement by testing a new feature called 'hashtags.'
Designed to enable instant text and joint public conversations, Threads aims to
boost interaction among users. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced this
development, highlighting the platform's commitment to enhance user
experiences.
The
'hashtags' feature, currently in testing with selected users, aims to allow
individuals to categorize their posts by topics of interest. This functionality
will enable users to tag their posts using the symbol '#', creating clickable
links that direct users to related content.
Zuckerberg
shared his enthusiasm for this innovation, stating, "Testing a way to
categorize your posts with a tag. Starting in Australia with more countries
coming soon." The feature's availability will expand to additional countries
after the initial testing phase.
The
functionality of the hashtags involves an easy tagging process. Users can
either select from suggested tags or create new ones while composing their
posts. Once tagged, the posts become accessible to other users interested in
the same topics, enhancing content discoverability and fostering community
interaction.
Additionally, Meta has announced a related update for Instagram Threads, allowing users to delete their profiles independently without affecting their Instagram accounts. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, highlighted the platform's responsiveness to user feedback, enabling options to turn off automatic post sharing to other apps, including Facebook and Instagram.

For
users reluctant to delete their Threads profiles permanently, Meta has
introduced a deactivation feature, offering flexibility without losing account
data. The integration of Threads' posts on Instagram and Facebook aims to
expand content visibility and audience reach.
Mark
Zuckerberg proudly revealed that Threads has surpassed 100 million monthly
active users, showcasing the platform's growing popularity and impact on social
media engagement. As Threads continues to evolve, these innovations promise to
reshape user experiences and interactions within the social networking sphere.
