MS Dhoni released CSK captaincy hint to Ruturaj Gaikwad last IPL

It was disclosed by Ruturaj Gaikwad that last year, only a day after being selected Chennai Super Kings captain for the 2024 Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni had made hints about changing leadership roles. 

After Dhoni left on Thursday, Gaikwad took over as CSK's captain. This occurs right before the well-known MSD is set to play his final inning. Dhoni is likely to play in every match, despite the fact that nothing official has been confirmed. Nonetheless, it appears that Dhoni will be almost done with the series given that Gaikwad has been prepared as the next man in leadership and assigned the responsibility. Subconsciously, Dhoni therefore understood that, in order to ensure a seamless transfer, this is the perfect time to make room for someone new.

Not to mention, at the beginning of this month, Dhoni posted a message on Facebook about his "new role" that was probably the biggest online signal he has ever given. However, all rumours were dispelled when it was discovered that the film in question was an advertising from the viewpoints of all those concerned. Shortly before yesterday's photo session and players' meeting, Dhoni reportedly informed the team and management about his decision. Gaikwad knew this knowledge since he had witnessed the minute details in the days leading up to the event.

"Be ready" was the hint that was just dropped. This is not at all unexpected. He requested that I participate in some of the practice matches that were simulated when he first arrived at the camp. He talked about his "new duty" on social media, I seem to recall. It seemed like everyone was looking at me, as though I was the new captain. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that it might mean something different. Following his arrival, he declared, "I've decided this and this..." In an announcement video released by the Indian Premier League, Gaikwad said, "But now that I am here, I am looking forward to it."

Alongside the declaration of the captains for this season, CSK has revealed something unexpected. Shubman Gill will head the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming championship, while Hardik Pandya will play for the Mumbai Indians. At the last minute, the Punjab Kings even replaced ShikharDhawan with Jitesh Sharma. But Gaikwad's appointment continues to be the most significant story. Faf du Plessis, his former CSK teammate from 2021, will accompany him if he chooses to go out for the toss. With shared locker rooms and now captaining opposing clubs, the Indian Premier League has been an amusing ride.
