Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has once again switched alliances. On Monday, Prachanda's Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) broke its alliance with the Nepali Congress and formed a coalition with the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) led by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

This recent decision by Prachanda has put the Nepali Congress party, which won the most seats in the Nepali parliament with 88 seats, in opposition.

Prachanda and Oli's parties claim to have reached a new understanding regarding the government. It's been just over a year since the communist parties of Nepal have formed an alliance again.

The coalition between Prachanda and Oli's parties also includes the Rashtriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) and the Janata Samajwadi Party. On Monday evening, Prachanda removed all his ministers and included new ministers from his party, as well as from the RSP, except Oli's party. Prachanda retained all the remaining 25 ministries for himself.
