The National Investigation Agency
(NIA) has on Friday chargesheeted 13 individuals in connection with the
Villianur (Puducherry) bomb blast incident, which involved the attack leading
to the assassination of a political official.
The agency has formally filed charges against Nithyanandam,
identified as the key conspirator in the case, and his associates Vignesh, Siva
Sankar, Raja, Pradap,
Karthikeyan, Vengatesh, Rajamani,
Ezhumalai, Kathirvel, Ramachandiran, Lakshmanan, Dhilipan, and Ramanathan in
connection with the incident.
The NIA has formally charged all
individuals involved, except Ramanathan, under multiple sections of the Indian

After committing the crime, all the accused were apprehended and taken into custody by the authorities.
On March 26, 2023, a group of six
individuals, riding motorcycles, carried out a brutal attack in Villianur,
Puducherry. They hurled homemade explosive devices at Senthul Kumaran, who was
standing in front of a bakery.
Following the bomb attack, the
assailants assaulted him with machetes, leading to the tragic demise of the
victim.
The initial case related to the
incident was filed by the local police. However, the investigation was later
handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and they officially
re-registered the case on April 29.
Based on the NIA's investigation,
it has been established that Nithiyanantham masterminded the conspiracy with
the intention of spreading fear and panic among the local residents of
Villianur and the nearby regions.
As part of the conspiracy,
Nithiyanantham assembled a group of individuals with the intent of creating
homemade explosives. Additionally, he made arrangements for the procurement of
machetes to carry out the brutal attack as part of the conspiracy.
According to the NIA's investigation, Nithiyanantham had assigned Kathirvel the role of conducting surveillance on Senthil Kumaran in Villianur.
