The NIA attached four properties linked to Hizbul Mujahideen in J&K's Kupwara, including houses used for storing arms and SUVs for transporting them, in a crackdown on the terror network.
The National Investigation Agency or NIA on Thursday seized four more properties as part of its intensified crackdown on the terror network operating in Jammu and Kashmir that was linked to the proscribed terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen in the Kupwara region.
By the NIA, the properties that are attached comprising two residential buildings and two SUV cars were stated to be "proceeds of terrorism" used for conspiracies and attacks. The properties named above belonged to four accused – Mohammad Alam Bhat, Mohammad Yusuf Khawaja, Shabir Ahmad Gakhad, and Zakir Hussain Mir – who are closely associated with the Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen handlers and operatives.
The probe established that the arrested were directly involved in the unlawful supply of arms, ammunition, and drugs to intensify militancy in Kashmir. The attached houses were used as ammunition and arms storage areas as well as safe houses for terrorists, while the SUVs helped in transporting arms.
"The NIA booked a case in February 2019 against Hizbul Mujahideen members for supply of weapons, arms, ammunition and narcotics into India from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The investigations in this case are still going on," the NIA spokesperson said.
The NIA action follows the attachment of six immovable properties of a top JeM militant, Asif Ahmed Malik, in the Mirpora and Pulwama areas of Kashmir, yesterday.

Although Hizbul Mujahideen and JeM are Pakistan-based terrorist groups, responsible for several attacks in India, especially in J&K, they are still regarded as a threat. The NIA's actions are a part of its continuous efforts to dispel the financial streams and the base that sustains terrorist activities in the region.
