Amid escalating tensions following Rahul Gandhi's comments on the Manipur situation, M Rameshwar Singh, a prominent figure from the National People's Party (NPP), a BJP ally in Manipur, has suggested the need for strategic actions like a surgical strike to address the ongoing crisis in the state.

Singh's statement comes as a response to concerns raised by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over Rahul Gandhi's assertion that the Indian Army could swiftly resolve the situation within two days.

Need of surgical Strike in manipur
Surgical strike is apt way to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants and alleged militants in Manipur

Singh emphasized the urgency of effective measures, such as a surgical strike, to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants and alleged militants in Manipur.

He cited reports of illegal Kuki militants crossing the border and external aggression as contributing factors to the unrest.

Singh also expressed the view that a decisive action like a surgical strike could provide a lasting solution to the complex crisis that has gripped the region.

The discord over Rahul Gandhi's comments has further highlighted the complexity of the situation. However, Himanta Biswa Sarma countered Rahul Gandhi's notion, asserting that resolving the Manipur issue required a heartfelt approach rather than the use of force.Sarma drew a parallel to a historical incident involving the Indian Air Force in 1966, cautioning against the deployment of the army as a means of achieving a permanent solution to the Kuki-Meitei crisis.

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad
Rajendra Prasad, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, gave his opinion on the matter and strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi.

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad weighed in on the matter, condemning Rahul Gandhi's stance as undemocratic and suggesting that it implied advocating the use of force against fellow citizens.

Meanwhile, Manipur has been grappling with unrest since May, following clashes between the Kuki and Meitei communities that escalated into widespread violence.

The opposition took the Manipur crisis to the forefront by initiating a no-confidence motion against the PM Modi government. Despite the motion's defeat, Prime Minister Modi assured Manipur of unwavering support from the nation. The intricate situation necessitates a careful and comprehensive approach, ensuring the restoration of peace and harmony in the troubled region.
