A creative social media post by Odisha's Berhampur Police has gone viral after officers shared an arrest announcement featuring emojis superimposed on the faces of suspects. Rather than the usual blurred effect, the Berhampur Superintendent of Police's X (formerly Twitter) account used various expressive emojis on the faces of four individuals arrested for assault.

Shared with the caption, “Gopalpur Police team arrested four persons for assaulting father and son,” the post’s straightforward description combined with a humorous twist quickly gained attention. Each emoji—ranging from pleading to frowning expressions—added a playful element, making a serious post feel lighthearted and relatable. Social media users responded enthusiastically, with many appreciating the police for blending humor with their public service announcements. One user quipped about the suspects’ “emotional faces,” while others humorously suggested which emojis they’d prefer if they were ever in a similar situation.

This isn’t the first time the Berhampur Police have infused humor into their updates. In recent posts, they used similar tactics to announce arrests for gambling and fraud. In one October post, they shared details of a gambling crackdown across multiple police stations, pairing the serious message with emoji-covered faces of the accused. Their witty approach has given Berhampur Police a unique social media presence, with a balance between enforcing the law and engaging the community.
