Get ready for the "Chak De! INDIA" Opposition alliance! As the 2024 national elections approach, a formidable coalition of Opposition parties is gearing up to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Tentatively named the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), this coalition aims to unite various parties under a common platform.

The name's potential origin lies in a tweet by Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien, who posted, "Chak De! INDIA." While not officially confirmed, the excitement is palpable as leaders from 26 Opposition parties prepare for a crucial meeting in Bengaluru to solidify their unity.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray proposed the alliance's name, emphasizing its constructive, patriotic, and democratic nature. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stressed their focus on safeguarding India's core values, like the Constitution, secularism, and democracy, rather than pursuing the Prime Minister's post.

Despite some state-level differences, Kharge urged the parties to prioritize the collective goal of addressing inflation, unemployment, and protecting the rights of the marginalized—Dalits, tribals, and minorities.

With a strong political presence in 11 states, the 26 parties hold significant clout. Kharge highlighted the importance of alliances, noting the BJP's reliance on allies in the 2019 polls.

Simultaneously, the rival ruling National Democratic Alliance is also holding its meeting, setting the stage for a gripping coalition politics showdown ahead of the general elections.

In their first meeting in Patna, 15 out of 16 parties pledged to jointly challenge the BJP, forming a potent force with a shared ideological platform. However, disagreements arose between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress over a controversial ordinance concerning Delhi's bureaucracy.

As the Bengaluru meeting unfolds, the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is set to reshape the political landscape and present a robust challenge to the status quo. Brace yourself for an enthralling political spectacle in 2024!
