In a surprising turn of events, the 96th Academy Awards nominations unveiled on January 23rd brought both celebration and disappointment. Notably, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Maestro took center stage with multiple nods. However, the absence of Barbie's leading actress, Margot Robbie, and director Greta Gerwig in the nominations sparked an unexpected wave of reactions.

Expressing her sentiments, Margot Robbie, known for her role in Barbie, demonstrated a commendable level of grace. "There is no reason to feel bad when you know that you are blessed by God," shared Robbie, emphasizing her positive outlook despite the snub. She further endorsed Gerwig's directorial prowess, stating, "What she has done happens only once in a career and a lifetime."

Hollywood actors rallied behind Robbie, questioning the criteria for nominations and expressing their discontent. Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in Barbie, pointed out the indispensable roles of both Robbie and Gerwig in making the film a success. "Without Barbie, Ken does not exist. Similarly, without Greta, the Barbie film does not exist," remarked Gosling, highlighting their substantial contributions.

Simu Liu, another co-star from Barbie, echoed the disappointment, offering insights into the challenges Robbie and Gerwig faced in bringing the film to fruition. Liu emphasized their impact on the cinematic landscape, stating, "They started a movement, touched the world, and reinvigorated the cinema. They deserve everything. They ARE everything."
