Operation Kaveri, Indian Navy:-

The eighth batch of 121 Indian nationals, stranded in Sudan due to the nationwide violence, arrived in Jeddah on Thursday. This evacuation was carried out under the Indian government's initiative called 'Operation Kaveri.'

MoS Muraleedharan took to Twitter to express his happiness on the arrival of the 7th batch of stranded Indians in Jeddah from Port Sudan. The Indian Air Force's C-130J aircraft was used to transport the Passengers, who numbered 135 in total.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah facilitated the evacuation of these individuals, who were from various states of India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. They were working in different sectors, including construction, hospitality, and healthcare.

The Indian Navy, too, has taken swift action to evacuate its citizens from Sudan amidst ongoing violence and political unrest. In response to the clashes between the army and paramilitary forces, INS Teg, a Talwar-class frigate, was diverted from its anti-piracy patrol to assist with the evacuation process in Port Sudan. This move underscores the Indian government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens overseas.

While a 72-hour ceasefire has been announced, there have been reports of continued violence and clashes between loyalists of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Soldiers (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo. The situation in Sudan remains tense, and the Indian government's efforts to evacuate its citizens from the country have been critical in ensuring their safety amidst the ongoing violence. The deployment of INS Teg highlights the Indian Navy's readiness to respond to crises and underscores its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The Indian Embassy and Consulate in Sudan have been working tirelessly to repatriate stranded Indian nationals from the country. 'Operation Kaveri' was launched by the Indian government to facilitate the evacuation of Indian citizens stranded in war-torn Sudan.

The embassy has also advised all Indian citizens to adhere to the guidelines and regulations put in place by the Saudi Arabian authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
