Scheduled for November 2nd, the Parumala Perunnal 2023 is already in the midst of preparations for a grand celebration. To truly appreciate the festival's importance, let's delve into its history and significance in the hearts of Kerala's people.

The History of Parumala Perunnal:

The roots of the Parumala Perunnal trace back to the late 19th century when Saint Mar Gregorios was born in Kunnamkulam, a small Kerala village. Ordained as a priest at just 18, he became a bishop by the age of 28. Known for his unwavering faith and selfless service, Saint Mar Gregorios provided immense support during the 1877 famine that afflicted Kerala.

Saint Mar Gregorios embodied love, compassion, and kindness. His efforts focused on uplifting marginalized communities and spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ. In honor of his legacy, the Parumala Perunnal has been celebrated annually, uniting people from various backgrounds, religions, and cultures to pay respects and seek blessings.

Significance of Parumala Perunnal:

Parumala Perunnal transcends mere festivity; it offers a spiritual journey for devotees. Commencing on November 1st, the day of the saint's passing, and culminating on November 2nd, his feast day, the church becomes a spectacle with vibrant lights, floral decorations, and traditional lamps, setting a joyous mood.
