progress of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. They emphasized the
significance of securing a mutually beneficial and ambitious deal for both
nations. The leaders also extended congratulations to PM Modi for Team India's
impressive performance in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
Negotiations for the India-UK Free Trade Agreement commenced in 2022, with the 12th round taking place from August 8-31
this year. The leaders expressed optimism for a fruitful outcome.
Turning to cricket, PM Sunak conveyed
his hope for a strong performance from the English side during the upcoming
Test series in India in January. The ongoing Cricket World Cup, hosted by
India, was also a topic of discussion. PM Modi commended Team India's stellar
performance while expressing anticipation for England's performance in the
forthcoming series.
India has maintained an exceptional record in the Cricket World Cup, winning all seven matches played thus far. In contrast, the defending champions, England, have struggled, securing only one victory out of six matches. The recent India versus England match in Lucknow witnessed a remarkable 100-run victory for the Indian team, propelled by their formidable pace attack.

Addressing the Middle East situation, PM
Modi and PM Sunak delved into the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. They
unequivocally condemned Hamas's attacks on Israel, emphasizing that the
organization did not represent the Palestinian people. Both leaders stressed
the imperative of de-escalating tensions in the region. PM Sunak underscored
the necessity of safeguarding innocent civilians in Gaza and facilitating the
flow of aid into the country.
The conversation reflected the shared
commitment of India and the UK to fostering diplomatic relations, advancing
trade agreements, and contributing to regional stability. The leaders
reiterated their dedication to mutual cooperation and constructive dialogue.
