Prime Minister Modi attacked Rahul Gandhi over his 'devta' remark, labeling it a reflection of Congress's "Naxal mindset." He accused Congress of undermining Indian faith and culture, pledging to protect Jammu and Kashmir from separatism and Pakistan’s influence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on September 19, 2024, over his recent remark on 'devta.' Addressing a rally in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, Modi accused Gandhi of insulting India’s religious beliefs, claiming his statement displayed a "Naxal mindset imported from other religions and countries."
Modi condemned Gandhi's definition of 'devta,' which Gandhi described during his US visit as a person whose internal feelings align with external expressions, rather than a god. The prime minister argued that such statements were a deliberate conspiracy, part of a broader agenda by Congress to undermine India's faith and culture for political gain. He also emphasized that Congress has consistently put the nation's traditions at risk for votes.
Additionally, Modi highlighted the insult to Jammu's Dogra culture and accused the Congress-National Conference alliance of allowing Jammu and Kashmir’s river waters to flow into Pakistan. He reaffirmed his government's commitment to never restoring Article 370 and pledged to continue efforts to eradicate terrorism and separatism in the region.
