National Space Day to Celebrate Chandrayaan-3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared August 23 as "National Space Day" in India, commemorating the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon's surface. The Prime Minister made this historic declaration during an emotional address to the dedicated scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) command center in Bengaluru.

During his speech, PM Modi revealed that the spot where the Vikram lander touched down on the lunar surface will now be known as the 'Shivshakti' point, while the Chandrayaan-2's impact point will be called the 'Tiranga' point. These new names symbolize India's prowess and commitment to space exploration.

"This will be an inspiration for every effort made by India. It will remind us that any failure is not final," PM Modi passionately stated, highlighting the indomitable spirit of scientific exploration.

The announcement comes in the wake of India's historic achievement of becoming the first country to successfully place a lander on the unexplored lunar South Pole. PM Modi expressed his immense pride in the accomplishments of ISRO's scientists and their contribution to the 'Make In India' initiative.

Despite being on a two-nation visit to South Africa and Greece, PM Modi's thoughts remained firmly with the scientists. "I could not stop myself as I was not in the country, but I decided to visit Bengaluru first and meet our scientists right after visiting India," he explained.
