PM Modi Extends Support, Congratulates ZPM for Mizoram Assembly Victory

In a notable turn of events post-Mizoram's assembly elections, PM Modi expressed support for ZPM's win, assuring assistance for the state's progress. ZPM secured 27 seats out of 40, leading to the resignation of CM Zoramthanga, who also lost in his constituency. The BJP won two seats, prompting Modi's acknowledgment and encouragement for Mizoram's growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to the Zoram People's Movement
(ZPM) and Lalduhoma for their resounding victory in the Mizoram Assembly
elections. Expressing assurance for comprehensive support, Modi reiterated
their commitment to Mizoram's development.
Following
the state's election outcome, Modi also conveyed gratitude to supporters of the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Affirming the party's dedication to uplifting
Mizoram's progress, he commended the relentless efforts of BJP workers in
advocating good governance and connecting with the populace.
The
Prime Minister's statements came in the wake of ZPM's significant win, securing
27 out of 40 seats, with the Mizo National Front (MNF) clinching 10 seats. BJP
secured two seats while the Congress managed one, reflecting the evolving
political landscape in Mizoram.
Notably, Modi specifically congratulated K Beichhua and K Hrahmo from the BJP for their election as MLAs, extending his best wishes for their legislative endeavors.

Simultaneously,
Mizoram witnessed the resignation of Chief Minister Zoramthanga from the Raj
Bhavan after his party's defeat in the elections. Zoramthanga, who lost his own
seat to ZPM's Lalthansanga, submitted his resignation to Governor Dr Hari Babu
Kambhampati.
The
Election Commission's report highlighted MNF's acquisition of nine seats with
one seat still being contested, while the Zoram People's Movement seized a
commanding majority of 27 seats in the 40-member House.
Meanwhile,
the ZPM confirmed its intention to stake a claim for government formation in
Mizoram, planning a consultative meeting among the newly elected MLAs and
senior party leaders. This political shift sets the stage for transformative
changes in the northeastern state's governance.
