nation on the 77th Independence Day from the historic Red Fort, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi extended a heartfelt appeal for peace in the strife-ridden state
of Manipur. He emphasized that the entire nation stands in solidarity with the
people of the Northeastern state and asserted that peace remains the sole
solution to resolve existing conflicts.
In his address,
PM Modi underscored the combined efforts of the Central and Manipur governments,
dedicated to ensuring the swift return of tranquility to the region.
Highlighting the
monumental nature of India's democracy, PM Modi noted that it now stands at the
forefront globally, both in terms of its population and its potential for
progress. He expressed his reverence for the heroes of the nation's freedom
struggle and conveyed his heartfelt wishes to all Indians, including those
residing abroad, who continue to showcase their unwavering love for their
motherland.
Earlier in the
day, Prime Minister Modi raised the national flag as the nation woke up to
commemorate its 77th Independence Day. Taking to his official social media
account, he extended warm wishes to the citizens, paying homage to the valiant
freedom fighters while reiterating his commitment to realizing their visionary
aspirations.
Upon his arrival
at the Red Fort, PM Modi was received by the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh,
Raksha Rajya Mantri, Ajay Bhatt, and Defence Secretary, Giridhar Aramane.
This year's
Independence Day marks the culmination of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'
celebrations, which were inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on March 12, 2021,
at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This significant occasion ushers
the nation into a period known as 'Amrit Kaal,' symbolizing the journey towards
rejuvenation and growth.
