A week after his diplomatic visit to Russia, India's Foreign Minister, Jaishankar, engaged in a crucial conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Kuleba. The dialogue, initiated by Jaishankar, aimed at addressing multifaceted issues concerning global peace and bilateral relations.

Jaishankar, in a social media update, highlighted the "useful conversation" with Ukraine's FM, discussing bilateral cooperation's advancement in the upcoming year. This exchange also delved into the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, termed by Russia as a "special military operation."

On the Ukrainian side, Foreign Minister Kuleba informed Jaishankar about Moscow's recent attacks on Kyiv, expressing concerns over escalating tensions. Both ministers stressed the importance of a global peace formula in resolving the conflict.

Furthermore, Kuleba mentioned the agreement between India and Ukraine to convene the first meeting of the India-Ukraine Inter-Governmental Commission since 2018. This decision aimed at revitalizing bilateral ties comprehensively.

This conversation followed Jaishankar's "successful" trip to Moscow, during which he held discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Notably, Jaishankar conveyed a "special message" from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a significant diplomatic development.

While it remains unclear if India explicitly urged Russia to cease the conflict, India's persistent stance on maintaining neutrality while advocating for bilateral negotiations was evident.

The dialogue between Jaishankar and Kuleba underscores the diplomatic efforts to navigate the complex geopolitical landscape and foster peaceful resolutions amidst ongoing global conflicts.
