Prasidh Krishna's costly bowling spell in the T20I match between India and Australia at Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium set a new record for the most expensive figures by an Indian bowler in T20Is. Despite this, India maintains a 2-1 lead in the series, while Australia faces the absence of key players for the remaining matches.
In
a gripping T20I clash between India and Australia at Guwahati's Barsapara
Cricket Stadium, Prasidh Krishna's bowling performance made history. This
match, held on Tuesday, November 28, witnessed an intense battle on the pitch,
leading to a record-breaking turn of events.
Australia
won the crucial toss, opting to bowl first, a decision that would later prove
pivotal in the match's outcome. The high-scoring affair saw a total of 447 runs
scored across both innings. Surprisingly, even a substantial 222-run target
wasn't sufficient, revealing the sheer intensity of the encounter.
Notably,
Jason Behrendorff emerged as the most economical bowler, registering an
outstanding 1/12 spell. However, the majority of bowlers struggled to contain
the batsmen, with five of them recording an economy rate exceeding 11.
While Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav posed threats during India's innings, Australia's Matthew Wade, Travis Head, and Glenn Maxwell dominated the second innings. Indian bowlers, including frontline pacers Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna, faced a challenging time containing Maxwell and company. Unfortunately, Krishna's four-over spell saw him conceding a staggering 68 runs, culminating in an intense finale where he couldn't defend 21 runs in the last over.

This
spell by Krishna etched a new record in the annals of Indian cricket history,
marking the most expensive figures by an Indian bowler in T20Is. Surpassing
Yuzvendra Chahal's spell of 64 runs against South Africa five years prior,
Krishna's performance made headlines.
Despite this setback, India maintains a 2-1 lead in the series. As the competition progresses, Australia faces the absence of key World Cup stars, while India anticipates the return of Shreyas Iyer in the upcoming matches at Raipur and Bengaluru.
