Priyanka Gandhi criticized PM Modi for not personally responding to Mallikarjun Kharge’s letter, which raised concerns about violent statements against Rahul Gandhi. Instead, BJP chief JP Nadda replied, sparking criticism from Gandhi, who accused the government of undermining democratic traditions. Nadda’s response accused Congress of political opportunism.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly disrespecting Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge by having Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda respond to Kharge’s letter instead of replying personally. Kharge had written to the prime minister, expressing concern over “extremely objectionable” and violent statements made by BJP leaders against Rahul Gandhi, including death threats.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Priyanka Gandhi questioned the lack of direct response from Modi, arguing that the prime minister should have replied himself, respecting democratic traditions and Kharge's seniority. She called Nadda’s response “inferior and aggressive,” criticizing the government for disregarding the values of dignity and etiquette in politics.
Kharge's letter had raised alarm over remarks by BJP leaders, such as Union minister Ravneet Bittu labeling Rahul Gandhi “the number one terrorist” and a former BJP MLA issuing a death threat. He urged Modi to take action and discipline his party members, emphasizing that such vitriol posed a danger to Indian politics.
JP Nadda's response to Kharge, however, pointed to past comments by Rahul Gandhi against Modi and accused the Congress of political opportunism. Nadda defended his party, asserting that Kharge’s letter was an attempt to "polish a failed product" in Rahul Gandhi, repeatedly rejected by voters.
