Ahead of the Haryana elections, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of failing the youth by causing widespread unemployment, forcing them to migrate abroad using illegal methods like "dunki." Gandhi stressed that a Congress-led government would address the unemployment crisis and create opportunities for the youth to stay with their families.

In a sharp attack against the BJP ahead of the Haryana elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the ruling party of failing the youth by depriving them of job opportunities. Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said the "disease of unemployment" under the BJP government has forced many young Indians, particularly from Haryana, to undertake perilous journeys to foreign countries in search of work.

Referring to the illegal immigration method known as “dunki” (popularized by a recent Bollywood film), Gandhi said in a social media post that lakhs of families are suffering due to separation caused by unemployment. He shared a video of his recent interaction with young immigrants from Haryana in the United States, where they expressed their struggles and fears of deportation.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi asked, “Why did the youth of Haryana turn to Dunki?” He emphasized that many young people have been compelled to leave their homeland because they lack employment opportunities in India, despite the emotional toll it takes on their families. Gandhi’s video also featured his visit to the family of an immigrant from Haryana who was injured in a road accident in the US, showcasing the pain of families separated by distance.

Gandhi blamed the BJP for creating conditions that have forced youth to become "migratory birds" who leave their homes for better opportunities abroad. He stressed that if the Congress were to come to power in Haryana, it would create a system where young people could achieve their dreams without having to leave their country and loved ones.

With the Haryana assembly elections scheduled for October 5, the Congress party is focusing its campaign on unemployment and farmer issues in an effort to reclaim power from the BJP.
