Defense Minister Rajnath Singh claimed Rahul Gandhi has "migrated to Kerala" after losing Amethi in 2019, and lacks courage to contest from there again. He mocked Gandhi's campaign as a "Rahulyaan" going nowhere.
In a stinging remark at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Thursday that Gandhi had "migrated to Kerala" as he had lost the parliamentary seat of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in 2019.
Singh, who was supporting BJP applicant Anil Antony in Kerala's Pathanamthitta constituency, said, "Gandhi doesn't have the courage to contest from Amethi again after his defeat to BJP's Smriti Irani in the last general elections."
“Rahul Gandhi lost in Amethi last time, and now he has no gumption to contest from there this time," Singh said at an event. "Rahul Gandhi is from Uttar Pradesh but living in Kerala."
While the Wayanad seat in Kerala is his new constituency, he is also contesting from his traditional seat of Amethi in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. When he was asked about his Amethi candidature earlier this week, Gandhi claimed he would abide by whatever the party would decide.
Singh stated that Wayanad had already decided not to elect him as their MP. He was sarcastic about the election campaign of 'Rahulyaan,' which has not only not taken off but also not landed anywhere.

The BJP leader also pleaded with the former Defence Minister A.K. Antony, who has a son, Anil, who is a Pathanamthitta candidate of the party, even in spite of their political differences, to bless his own son. "You will not vote for him and might not even campaign for him, but he is your son, so may his blessings be ever with him," Singh remarked.
So far, the Congress party has not named its candidates for the Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, which were held by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
