Rahul Gandhi’s Disqualification as MP:-

Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from Lok Sabha has sparked a massive political row between the ruling BJP and the Congress. Gandhi, who was an MP from the Wayanad constituency in Kerala, was disqualified after his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his 'Modi surname' remark.

The Surat court sentenced Gandhi to two years imprisonment for his remark made during an election rally in Karnataka in 2019. He had said, "how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname" at the rally, which led to a criminal defamation case being filed against him by BJP MLA Purnesh Modi.

Following the disqualification, Congress has announced that it will observe a "Black Day" in Wayanad in protest against what it calls a "hasty and politically motivated" decision. Wayanad District Congress Committee chief ND Appachan said that the party would also face the action of Lok Sabha Secretariat politically and legally.

The Leader of the Opposition in Kerala, VD Satheesan, criticized the decision and said that the “Surat court's ruling was not final. He added that Congress believes in democracy and the rule of law and that Rahul Gandhi will come back through the legal route.” Satheesan also vowed to continue raising his voice for democracy and secular values.

Rahul Gandhi’s Disqualification as MP

The disqualification of Rahul Gandhi has led to a war of words between the BJP and the Congress. The BJP has called him a "habitual loose cannon," while the Congress has alleged that he was deliberately disqualified.

The opposition parties have also slammed the government over the disqualification. They have called it an attack on democracy and accused the BJP of suppressing dissenting voices. The Congress has announced that it will launch a people's movement on the issue.

Rahul Gandhi's disqualification is not the first time that a politician has been disqualified from Lok Sabha. In the past, several MPs have been disqualified for various reasons, including corruption charges, dual citizenship, and holding an office of profit.

The disqualification of an MP is a serious matter as it not only affects the individual but also the political party they represent. It also impacts the functioning of the Lok Sabha as the number of seats in the house reduces, which can affect the outcome of crucial votes.

In conclusion, the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha has triggered a political storm between Congress and the BJP. While the Congress has vowed to fight the decision politically and legally, the BJP has defended it, calling Gandhi a loose cannon. The disqualification has also led to criticism from the opposition parties, who have accused the government of suppressing dissenting voices. It remains to be seen how Congress will react to the disqualification, and whether it will impact the party's prospects in the upcoming state elections.
