Rahul Gandhi’s comments describing the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha as a “naach-gaana” event have sparked a political controversy, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP. Accused of disrespecting Hindu traditions, Gandhi’s remarks were rebuked by BJP leaders who highlighted his alleged history of anti-Hindu sentiments and cultural insensitivity.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has ignited controversy with his recent remarks about the upcoming Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22, referring to it as a “naach-gaana” (song and dance) event. In a 27-second video, Gandhi criticized the government for allegedly turning the sacred ceremony into a celebrity event, claiming it sidelined marginalized groups such as farmers and laborers.
Gandhi's comments drew sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing him of disrespecting Hindu traditions. BJP leader Tirath Singh Rawat rebuked Gandhi, suggesting that he lacks an understanding of Indian culture and the significance of such rituals. Rawat emphasized that common people were involved in the ceremony, contrary to Gandhi's claims.
Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP national spokesperson, further condemned Gandhi’s comments, labeling them “deplorable.” He accused the Congress and the INDI alliance of consistently hurting Hindu sentiments for electoral gain, stating that the Gandhi family has a history of anti-Hindu rhetoric. Poonawalla questioned whether similar remarks would be made about other faiths and their holy events, pointing out past instances where Rahul Gandhi allegedly dismissed Hindu customs as mere performances.
