Prime Minister Narendra Modi played a pivotal role in the National Unity Day celebrations in the state of Gujarat. The grand event took place at the iconic Statue of Unity, situated near Kevadia, on October 31. This event was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister, and was celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, a day of promoting unity, diversity, and national security.

In his address to the assembled crowd, PM Modi emphasized the importance of this day in fostering unity and brotherhood across the nation. He acknowledged the diversity of the attendees, hailing from different states, speaking various languages, and following diverse traditions, yet united by a common thread of national pride.

PM Modi likened Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to other major national celebrations like Independence Day and Republic Day, signifying the nation's unity and patriotism. He also highlighted the educational aspect of the event, where visitors to Ekta Nagar not only admired the magnificent Statue of Unity but also gained insights into the life and contributions of Sardar Patel in shaping a united India.

Moreover, PM Modi underlined the significance of the next 25 years in India's development, stressing the need to transform the nation into a fully developed and prosperous entity. Earlier in the day, he paid his respects to Sardar Patel by offering floral tributes at the Statue of Unity, which was inaugurated on the same day in 2018.

The celebrations featured a splendid parade with marching contingents from the Border Security Force and Gujarat Police. The event included thrilling performances, such as a daredevil show by all-women CRPF Bikers, a choreographed program by Gujarat women police, an all-women pipe band of BSF, a special NCC show, a spectacular flypast by the Indian Air Force, and a display by school bands.

Additionally, 'Run for Unity' events were organized in multiple cities across India. Union Home Minister Amit Shah initiated the 'Run for Unity' at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi earlier this week. This grand celebration was a testament to India's unity, diversity, and the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
