A three-year-old girl trapped in a 700-foot borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli has been stuck for over 70 hours. Rescue teams are digging a parallel tunnel to reach her, providing oxygen and monitoring her condition. The critical operation is expected to conclude soon.
Rescue teams in Rajasthan's Kotputli district are racing against time to save a three-year-old girl trapped in a 700-foot borewell for over 70 hours. The incident occurred on Monday in the Sarund area, when the child, identified as Chetna, fell into the borewell while playing near her father’s farm.
Emergency teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), were immediately mobilized to the site. Rescuers began digging a parallel tunnel using specialized equipment to reach the child. However, the operation faced challenges due to compact, moisture-laden soil around the borewell.
By Tuesday, teams had managed to pull the girl up to 30 feet with the help of clips. Efforts to continue the excavation and widen the tunnel persisted as oxygen was supplied continuously to ensure Chetna’s safety. Visuals captured by cameras inserted into the borewell showed the child moving, offering hope to rescuers.
Authorities, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chaudhary and SHO Mohammad Imran, confirmed that the girl’s condition was being closely monitored. Medical teams have remained on standby, while district officials coordinated the complex operation.
