The
much-anticipated inauguration of Ayodhya's
Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024, marks a significant milestone in India's
cultural and religious landscape. This iconic temple, situated in Ayodhya,
Uttar Pradesh, holds immense religious importance as the birthplace of Lord
Rama, a revered figure in Hinduism.
The
construction of the Ram Mandir has been a contentious issue, steeped in legal
disputes and controversies over the years. However, after a prolonged legal
battle, the Supreme Court of India's ruling in November 2019 validated the
land's ownership for the temple's construction, paving the way for its
completion.
Anticipating
the inauguration, the event expects an initial attendance of about 7,000
guests, with projections suggesting a daily footfall ranging from three to five
lakh visitors post-inauguration. This influx of visitors not only signifies a
surge in religious and spiritual tourism but also presents substantial economic
opportunities for the region.
The
impending opening has spurred economic activity in Ayodhya. Hotel bookings have
surged, leading to increased pricing strategies that benefit local
accommodations. The city is undergoing significant infrastructural development,
with plans for the construction of 73 new properties, including 50 hotels and
homes, totaling 10,000 rooms. This expansion includes various categories of
accommodations, catering to diverse visitor preferences.
The
impact isn't limited to Ayodhya alone; neighboring cities such as Faizabad,
Lucknow, Varanasi, and Prayagraj are expected to witness increased tourism.
EaseMyTrip, a leading travel company, has observed a 45% surge in bookings for
pilgrimage destinations like Puri, Amritsar, Varanasi, Haridwar, and Kochi.
This surge has also affected airfare prices, witnessing a notable increase,
along with a 50% surge in hotel reservations to these spiritual destinations.
The Ayodhya Ram Mandir aims to offer devotees a structured and organized darshan (worship) experience. The temple management has introduced online booking facilities through the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust's official website, allowing visitors to select preferred dates and time slots.

For
offline bookings, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Visitor Centre operates from 10 am to
6 pm daily, offering tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. The temple
observes specific timings for darshan, open from 7 am to 11:30 am and from 2 pm
to 7 pm, with variations during special occasions and festivals.
Visitors
are advised to follow guidelines for a smoother visit, including adhering to
COVID-19 protocols, booking tickets in advance due to visitor limits, dressing
appropriately, refraining from photography inside the temple, and respecting
social distancing measures.
The
Ayodhya Ram Mandir, beyond being a religious site, symbolizes unity, faith, and
a testament to cultural heritage. Its impending inauguration not only signifies
a momentous occasion but also ushers in an era of economic growth and increased
spiritual tourism in the region.
