In a critical development amid the Uttarakhand tunnel crisis, trapped laborers will finally receive a hot meal, khichdi, after nine days. The cooking team, expressing relief, mentioned this as the first hot meal dispatched to the stranded workers.

The announcement came alongside Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami's social media update, highlighting the successful installation of a 6-inch diameter pipelineacross the debris. This pipeline aims to facilitate easy delivery of essential supplies like food, medicine, and other necessities to the trapped workers within the Silkyara tunnel.

Efforts to reach the 40 trapped laborers have been underway since the tunnel collapse on November 12. Rescue workers drilled 25 meters into the rubble, striving to create an escape passage for the stranded workers, currently stuck behind the collapsed section.

Union Minister VK Singh affirmed the confined space where the laborers are trapped, about 2 kilometers into the debris, mentioning continuous efforts to provide sustenance via a pipe—delivering food, water, and oxygen to the stranded workers.
