Amid the violence in Haryana, the state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on Wednesday said that rioters involved in incidents in Nuh and Gurugram will be made to pay for the damage.

During a press conference, Khattar addressed the violent incidents in Nuh and Gurugram and revealed measures to hold the culprits accountable.

The Chief Minister stated that a new Act had been passed to address compensation for losses incurred during the riots. While the government will compensate for damages to public property, those responsible for damaging private property will be held liable for compensation.

The situation in Nuh has been a matter of concern, with 20 paramilitary forces deployed to prevent further unlawful activities. The violence in Nuh resulted in six casualties, including two police personnel and four civilians. So far, 116 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence and will be thoroughly interrogated during their remand.

The Chief Minister expressed his determination to bring all the culprits to justice, ensuring no one involved would be spared. He also highlighted the severity of the incident, calling it a well-planned and conspiratorial attack to disrupt a religious yatra, during which the police were also targeted, indicating a larger conspiracy.

The violence erupted when a religious procession organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was attacked in Nuh, leading to clashes, arson, and vandalism of properties. The situation escalated to neighbouring Gurugram, where shops and restaurants were set on fire. Mobile internet services were suspended in response, and schools were closed in Nuh and Gurugram.

Presently, the district administration, led by Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar, is closely monitoring the situation to decide on the reopening of schools and colleges. The internet facility will also be reinstated after a thorough review. To maintain peace, curfew relaxation will be provided between 3-5 pm in specific areas.

Nuh SP Varun Singla disclosed that 41 FIRs have been filed, leading to the arrest of 116 individuals. The police actively pursue proper investigations and will apply for remand to ensure a comprehensive probe.
