Following their victory in the Korea Open, Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty conveyed that they are eager to carry forward the same winning spirit as they prepare for the Japan Open next week.
Satwiksairaj and Chirag secured an overwhelming victory against world No. 1 Indonesian pair, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, in an intense men's doubles final that went to three games with a final score of 17-21, 21-13, 21-14, gaining a well-deserved victory at the prestigious Korea Open 2023 in Yeosu, South Korea on Sunday.
Post victory, Satwiksairaj expressed his contentment with their performances in the past weeks and conveyed their commitment to carry on with sustaining the same level of momentum at the Japan Open next week.
Talking about their remarkable performance in the last few weeks, he said, "It’s been a pretty good week for us. We played some amazing badminton throughout the week here and I am happy with the performance today. "
He further added, "We want to continue with the same momentum next week at the Japan Open so we’ll go back now, rest and focus again. Thank you for all the support".
Chirag was equally happy following their third Super 500 title victory. Even though, as per him, their performance in the finals didn't start off as smoothly as they had hoped, he expressed that he was "happy that we could win that second game and keep the momentum until the very end and yes, extremely happy that we could win the consecutive titles after the Indonesia Open."
Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy's win at the Korea Open has added another milestone to their badminton journey. This latest victory marks their third Super 500 title, adding to their previous successes at the Thailand Open in 2019 and the Yonex Sunrise India Open in 2022.
Moreover, this is their third BWF World Tour title in 2023, after their successes at the Swiss Open (Super 300) and the Indonesia Open (Super 1000) earlier in the year.
