Eknath Shinde’s and Uddhav Thackeray’s factions of Shiv Sena are set to hold Dussehra rallies in Mumbai, aiming to demonstrate political strength ahead of the Maharashtra elections. Shinde’s rally will take place at Azad Maidan, while Uddhav will continue the tradition at Shivaji Park, with both camps vying for dominance.
In a significant display of political rivalry, both factions of the Shiv Sena will hold Dussehra rallies in Mumbai, demonstrating their strength ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Eknath Shinde’s faction will gather at Azad Maidan, while Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) will rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar, a tradition upheld since the party’s inception.
Despite heavy rains disrupting preparations, both rallies will proceed as planned. Shinde’s camp expects around 2 lakh supporters, with private buses arranged to bring attendees. Uddhav Thackeray’s rally is anticipated to focus on targeting rebel MLAs and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of dividing the Shiv Sena.
Each faction has released teasers to build momentum. Shinde’s teaser depicts a tiger, symbolizing the Sena, being freed from Congress ties, while Uddhav’s teaser focuses on protecting Maharashtra’s pride and denouncing traitors within the party.
These rallies come at a critical time, just weeks before the state elections, with the current assembly term ending on November 26. The rallies also hold symbolic importance, as Dussehra rallies have been a Shiv Sena tradition since the 1960s under founder Bal Thackeray.
