In
the Kanker
district of Chhattisgarh, a distressing incident transpired, causing
injuries to 17 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel due to a mini-truck
overturn. The mishap occurred while the personnel, affiliated with the 162nd battalion
of the BSF, were in transit from their base camp situated in Phulpad village to
Antagarh.
The
unfortunate incident unfolded during the afternoon when the mini-truck,
transporting the BSF jawans, met with an overturn near Kumhari village along
the Antagarh-Narayanpur road, an area within the jurisdiction of the Rowghat
police station. The aftermath of the truck overturn resulted in injuries to all
17 occupants onboard.
Immediate
measures were undertaken, swiftly moving the injured personnel to a nearby
hospital located in the Narayanpur district headquarters to ensure prompt
medical attention. However, owing to the severity of the injuries sustained in
the accident, four of the BSF personnel required advanced medical treatment and
were subsequently referred to Raipur.
Authorities promptly initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the overturn of the mini-truck to establish the cause and sequence of events leading to the unfortunate incident. This investigation aims not only to uncover the specifics of the accident but also to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Significantly,
the Border Security Force maintains a substantial presence in the Kanker
district, primarily dedicated to counter-naxal operations in the Bastar region.
The incident, therefore, has raised concerns among authorities, underscoring
the importance of ensuring the safety and security of personnel during their
movements within the region.
The
accident emphasizes the critical need for a comprehensive examination of safety
protocols and road conditions, intending to mitigate potential risks for
security personnel and prevent such accidents from happening again. Authorities
are diligently working to ascertain the factors contributing to the mishap,
aiming to implement preventive measures and reinforce safety standards for BSF
personnel on transit in the Kanker district.
