Following the resounding triumph of Sunny Deol's movie Gadar 2, the actor is apparently poised to take on the lead role in Border 2. The production reins will be held by JP Dutta, the driving force behind the 1997 sensation Border, which will feature a fresh ensemble cast consisting of younger talents, as disclosed by Pinkvilla. Anticipated within the next few weeks, an official declaration about these developments is eagerly awaited.
The 1997 movie Border featured an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Pooja Bhatt, Tabu, and Sharbani Mukherjee, alongside veteran performers Raakhee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Puneet Issar. Regarded as one of the major blockbusters of the 90s, the film achieved remarkable success.
According to Pinkvilla's report, shedding light on the sequel, an insider revealed, "Over the past 2 to 3 years, there have been ongoing discussions within the team about the potential of crafting a sequel to Border. Now, with all the pieces falling into position, the team is poised to unveil the official announcement of Border 2 within the next two weeks. A narrative from the unexplored territory of the 1971 Indo-Pak war has been identified by the team, and they are enthusiastic about presenting this untold story on the grand cinematic canvas."
Given its action-packed nature, the film will predominantly feature actors from the younger generation, diverging from the notion of reuniting the complete Border ensemble. In all likelihood, Sunny Deol will be the sole actor from the original Border cast who will also be a part of Border 2. As the project is currently in its initial phases, the source mentioned that further information will be unveiled once the film receives its official announcement, which is expected shortly.
