Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav gears up for his captaincy debut in the upcoming T20 series against Australia. Despite a low-scoring World Cup, Yadav aims to shine, chasing T20 records, notably nearing the 2000-run mark. If successful, he could surpass Kohli’s record.

Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, set for his captaincy debut, eyes a defining moment in the upcoming T20 series against Australia. Following a lackluster performance in the World Cup, where he scored a mere 106 runs in seven innings, Yadav seeks redemption.

Amidst this challenge, Yadav's T20 prowess remains undeniable. His tally of 1841 runs at an impressive average of 46, with a striking rate of 172, highlights his dominance in the format. Ranking third in average and topping the charts in strike rate among high-scoring T20 batsmen underlines his consistency and command.

Now, on the brink of reaching the 2000-run milestone, Yadav stands just 159 runs away. Achieving this feat in two innings would equal Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as the fastest to hit 2000 T20I runs in 52 innings. Failing that, he aims to set an Indian record, surpassing Virat Kohli's 56 innings mark.

The series against Australia becomes pivotal for Yadav's aspirations. His performance as captain will be closely watched, especially with the support of aggressive talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh. The spotlight remains on Yadav's ability to maintain his batting prowess amidst the added responsibility of leading the team.

In this pursuit, breaking Kohli's record looms as a significant achievement for Yadav. The series promises an intense showdown as Yadav aims to etch his name in T20 record books.
