Two young Indian shooters, Palak and Esha, etched their names in history by clinching the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women's 10m air pistol final at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Seventeen-year-old Palak, who only began her shooting journey after the Jakarta Asiad, stunned spectators with her poise and precision, quickly ascending to the top of the leaderboard during the intense final eight rounds. Her unshakeable focus culminated in a Games record-breaking total score of 242.1 points in the final.
Her compatriot, Esha Singh, displayed exceptional skill and determination, finishing with 239.7 points. Her achievement marked her fourth medal at the Asian Games, making her the most decorated Indian individual athlete at Hangzhou 2022.
Before their individual successes, Palak, Esha, and their teammate TS Divya secured the team silver medal, finishing just five points behind China with a total score of 1731 points.
The ecstatic scenes in the stands were equally memorable, with Esha's father, Sachin, breaking into a celebratory dance as he watched his daughter's impressive performance.
This historic one-two finish propelled India's medal count to an impressive tally of 30, with eight gold and 11 silver and bronze medals. It is a testament to the exceptional talent and hard work of India's athletes who continue to shine on the international stage.
