Telangana Authorities Seize 400kg Ganja Valued at Rs 1 Crore, Detain 8 Individuals

Telangana police intercepted a private bus in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, seizing 400 kg of ganja worth over Rs 1 crore. Eight individuals from Haryana were arrested for allegedly transporting the narcotics from Odisha to Hyderabad. Investigation continues under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

In a significant operation conducted by law enforcement in Telangana, a substantial quantity of ganja, totaling 400 kilograms and valued at over Rs 1 crore, was seized. The operation, which unfolded in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, resulted in the apprehension of eight individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking of the illicit substance.

The incident transpired when a vigilant police team, engaged in routine vehicle checks, intercepted a private bus in the vicinity of Bhadrachalam. Upon thorough inspection, officers discovered the contraband cunningly concealed within plastic trays and doormats aboard the bus. It was revealed that the ganja was being transported from Odisha's Malkangiri district to Hyderabad, with the eight detained suspects hailing from Haryana.

Authorities assert that the intercepted ganja, with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 1 crore, was destined for distribution in Hyderabad. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused procured the illicit substance from sources in Odisha before embarking on the journey to the capital city of Telangana.

Bhadradri Kothagudem District Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju, confirmed the commencement of legal proceedings against the apprehended individuals under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The case represents a concerted effort by law enforcement to combat the scourge of narcotics trafficking, safeguarding communities from the deleterious effects of drug proliferation.
