The event was attended by more than 100 world leaders, including heads of state and governments, and worldwide royalties. India was represented by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar.

United Kingdom crowned King Charles III and his wife Camilla as its King and Queen in a colossal event that awed the entire world.

The grandiose ceremony took place on Saturday at Westminster Abbey. It was the largest event to be held after the coronation of King Charles’s mother, Queen Elizabeth. While the King and Queen sat upon a 14th-century throne, they were crowned by the spiritual leader of the Anglican Church, the Archbishop of Canterbury. He administered the oath as well as placed the St Edward's Crown on the King’s head. This symbolized that King Charles succeeded his mother and his reign has now begun officially. The historical importance has been traced back to 1066 when King William the Conqueror was the ruler.

The celebration flaunted pomp and pageantry while combining thousand years of history with change. The event also reflected a diverse and inclusive institution with religious leaders from the Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Buddhist communities playing important ceremonial roles at the coronation. The crowning of the King and Queen was followed by a huge military procession. While thousands of soldiers marched by roaring three cheers amidst the firing of gun salutes, a scaled-down flypast was enacted by a military aircraft.  Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister, who flaunted the grandeur of the event stated, "No other country could put on such a dazzling display - the processions, the pageantry, the ceremonies, and street parties.”

The event was attended by more than 100 world leaders, including heads of state and governments, and worldwide royalties. India was represented by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar. On one hand, the King and Queen greeted the cheering crowds at Mall Boulevard by waving at them from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. At the same time, the royal coronation met with public scepticism, especially from the young people. Protests and campaigns were organised against the coronation for the abolishment of the monarchy at Trafalgar Square.
