The panel of jury members for the 69th edition of the National Film Awards had a meeting with Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur.
Their meeting was centred around the submission of their report on the country's most prestigious event in the field of cinema.
Ahead of the evening's official announcement, the entire jury committee gathered to meet the I&B minister. During this meeting, they presented the list of award recipients in the feature, non-feature, and best script categories to Anurag Thakur.
Since its inception in 1954, the National Film Awards has consistently remained one of the most revered and eagerly awaited occasions in the country. With the Hon'ble President of India as the presenter of the awards, it culminates in a public showcase of the acclaimed films.
This not only acknowledges outstanding filmmaking but also allows the public to engage with the award-winning creations.
This year, the films selected for recognition at the National Film Awards are a testament to the immense talent within the Indian film industry, showcasing the very best of Indian cinema and the event seeks to honour such cinematic excellence.
For the 69th edition of the awards, there is a remarkable lineup of films, with contenders such as 'Jai Bhim', 'Thalaivii', 'Sardar Udham', '83', 'Pushpa: The Rise', 'Shershaah', 'The Great Indian Kitchen', 'Nayattu', and many more.
All of these films in itself are a few of the best creations of this year, making the 69th edition of the National Film Awards more exciting and competitive.
During the 68th National Film Awards, the Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru" secured victory in five significant categories. These included Best Feature Film, where it was recognized as the top film of the year.
Suriya was honoured as the Best Actor, and Aparna Balamurali received the Best Actress award for their outstanding performances. The film's music, composed by G V Prakash Kumar, was awarded Best Music Direction (Score).
Sudha Kongara, who directed the film, was awarded the Best Original Screenplay. Suriya shared the Best Actor accolade with Ajay Devgn, who was also recognized for his performance in "Tanhaji."
