The Kerala Story:-
The movie, "The Kerala Story" has come packed with a lot of favourable and unfavorable political responses demanding a psychological agreement or dissent to the ideas expressed in the movie.
Merits of The Movie
'The Kerala Story' has bravely dealt with the stories of three girls from Kerala who were victims of religious conversion coupled with a propaganda full of terrorism and exploitation. The movie has touched upon sensitive issues such as the merits of one religion over another and the way such ideological human judgments can form a basis of life decisions in an extremely realistic manner. 'The Kerala Story' has also dealt with the issue of being less informed about one's own religion and such lack of information becoming the reason for easily being misled into wrong paths.
Another remarkable thought put across by the movie is the cinematic expression of how humans can become over-dependent on religious faith and fall back on their faith every time something wrong happens to them. This shows the importance of having the right guidance when professing a faith.
'The Kerala Story' is a must-watch for young girls who are susceptible to the same situations as portrayed in the movie, however one must not be misled by the facts and statistics put forward in the movie which are widely exaggerated.
Demerits of The Movie
While conversion from one religion to another in order to serve a propaganda is not an exclusive affair between Hindus and Muslims, 'The Kerala Story' makes it seem to an innocent viewer that such propaganda-led affairs take place only between these two communities in which the latter community has been shown as the undisputable villain.
'The Kerala Story' has shown scenes of intense turmoil which might be too much to process for a soft-hearted viewer who does not think rationally all the time. The intensity of the scenes portrayed in the movie are enough to form and everlasting image about the Muslim community and relationships of love between Hindus and Muslims in a negative manner in the mind of an innocent viewer. This means that the movie is capable of socially construct a thought process which might lead the general public to develop a negative opinion about the Muslim community in general. This is perhaps the largest demerit of the movie.
