A 24-year-old woman lost her life after a violent altercation with her live-in partner in South Bengaluru's Begur area on Monday.

The accused, identified as Vaishnav, is now behind bars, accused of fatally assaulting his partner with a pressure cooker, driven by suspicions of infidelity.

Both Vaishnav and the victim, named Deva, hailed from Kerala and had shared a rented apartment in the city for the past three years. Their story began in college, where they had been close acquaintances.

The accused, identified as Vaishnav, is now behind bars, accused of fatally assaulting his partner with a pressure cooker, driven by suspicions of infidelity.

According to the authorities, tension had been brewing for some time due to Vaishnav's growing suspicions about Deva's fidelity. Verbal disputes had become somewhat routine in their relationship, with some neighbors attesting to these frequent quarrels. 

Strikingly, no prior complaints had been filed by either party before this fatal incident took place.

Senior police officer C K Baba stated, "A few days back, he (the accused) had some suspicions about the woman (deceased). They used to fight over it. Yesterday the same thing happened. They fought and he hit her with a pressure cooker. We have also arrested him, and interrogation is ongoing."

Vaishnav, who was employed as a marketing executive at a local firm, had fled the scene immediately after the brutal assault. Subsequently, the authorities launched a manhunt leading to his arrest. He now faces charges of murder, and a thorough investigation into the matter is underway.
