Former US President Donald Trump has declared his intention to reintroduce a divisive travel ban on citizens from select Muslim-majority nations if he secures a second term in the White House. Speaking at the annual summit of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Trump, 77, emphasized the ban's effectiveness during his previous tenure, asserting it prevented potential threats to national security. The initial ban, implemented in 2017, restricted entry from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and initially, Iraq and Sudan.

Spokesperson Andrew Bates highlighted President Biden's commitment to combating Islamophobia, denouncing the ban as discriminatory and un-American. He underscored the urgent need to stand against hate, particularly given the rise in targeted attacks on American Muslims and Arab Americans.

Trump also reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel's efforts against Hamas, pledging to defend both nations against terrorism. Reflecting on his previous term, Trump emphasized his administration's actions in maintaining security for America, Israel, and the global community. He specifically highlighted the elimination of Qasem Soleimani, a prominent figure in Iran's military, as a significant achievement in countering terrorism.

While Trump's commitment to reenacting the travel ban and his foreign policy assertions garnered applause from his audience, the controversial nature of the ban and its potential implications continue to fuel intense debate within political circles.
