In complete disapproval of the law that has been used as a guise to encourage corruption in the country, top Islamic clerics including Mufti Raghib Hussain Naeemi of Jamia Naeemia, Mufti Imran Hanfi, Mufti Nadeem Qamar, and Mufti Arif Hussain have issued a fatwa stating that Prophet Muhammad had “advised against retaining gifts given to people in positions of power”. Such gifts are considered to be un-Islamic in their eyes, as it should have been used for the benefit of the nation and its people.
