In the ongoing negotiations for seat-sharing in Maharashtra's Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena's Uddhav Sena has stood firm on its demand for 23 seats, emphasizing its historical precedence. Congress, part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, faces discussions over-allotment, prompting intense talks between Sanjay Raut and top Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
In
the heart of Maharashtra’s political arena, the Uddhav
Sena, an integral faction of Shiv Sena (UBT), has firmly reiterated its
demand for 23 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sanjay Raut, a
prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, emphasized their historical contesting of this
number of seats, expressing the party’s steadfast stance in these discussions.
Raut, in a strategic move, engaged in discussions with key decision-makers within Congress, notably Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge. This meeting sought to navigate the seat-sharing complexities within the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. Raut highlighted the significance of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra's political landscape, dismissing dissenting opinions with a veiled reference to Sanjay Nirupam.

Underscoring
the disparity between the parties, Raut emphasized Congress's lack of wins in
Maharashtra, indicating that the party must start from scratch. Despite Shiv
Sena's historical consistency in contesting 23 seats, they opened discussions
post-elections within the MVA alliance, considering the seats won. This move
stands in contrast to Congress's quest for 22 seats within the alliance,
despite not securing a single seat previously.
Meanwhile,
Congress orchestrated a crucial meeting in the national capital, summoning
Maharashtra's top leadership to deliberate seat distribution within the Maha
Vikas Aghadi alliance. Leaders such as Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan, Nana
Patole, Balasaheb Thorat, and Vijay Wadettiwar participated, reflecting the
gravity of the ongoing discussions. The tussle over seat allotment intensifies
as Maharashtra's political landscape navigates alliance complexities.
