The event held in Eugene, Oregon, also witnessed impressive performances by young talent Erriyon Knighton and the resilient Rai Benjamin.

 

Knighton, a rising star, blazed across the finish line in the men's race, clocking an incredible time of 19.72. This victory solidified his position as a formidable force in the upcoming world championships.

Meanwhile, Thomas displayed determination and skill, seizing the lead halfway through the race and crossing the line over three-tenths of a second ahead of Sha'Carri Richardson, the reigning 100m champion.

 

Thomas expressed her joy, stating, "Coming here last year and being injured was heartbreaking for me, so I was ready this year." Her redemption was complete as she secured her spot in the world championships alongside the top three finishers and reigning champions.

 

Rai Benjamin made a remarkable comeback from injury, triumphing in the 400m hurdles with a time of 46.62. His performance sets the stage for an anticipated clash with Karsten Warholm, the Norwegian world record-holder, at the world championships. The championships also witnessed other standout moments, such as Shamier Little defeating Rio Olympic gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad in the women's 400m hurdles.
