The
historical narrative dates back to 1704 during the siege of Anandpur by Mughal
forces. Guru Gobind Singh's four sons, Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh,
and Fateh Singh, part of the Khalsa warrior group, faced tumultuous challenges.
Despite an agreement for safe passage, the Mughals reneged and attacked as Guru
Gobind Singh departed Anandpur Sahib, leading to the separation of his family.
In
the ensuing events, Guru Gobind Singh and his elder sons faced an overwhelming
Mughal force at Chamkaur Sahib. Here, Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh displayed
unparalleled bravery and made the ultimate sacrifice. Simultaneously, the
younger sons, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh, were captured by Nawab Wazir
Khan. Refusing to renounce their Sikh faith, they chose martyrdom over
conversion, tragically meeting their fate as they were bricked alive.
