In an email to Variety, the studio expressed sincere remorse, stating, "Warner Brothers sincerely apologizes for its recent insensitive social media engagement." The public criticism in Japan, an online petition against the studio, and an unexpected action by Warner's Japanese distribution arm were factors that led to the apology.



On Monday, Warner Bros. Japan released an official statement on its Japanese-language "Barbie" Twitter account, expressing criticism towards the studio's U.S. division for its involvement in the 'Barbenheimer' social media frenzy.

However, it's worth noting that "Oppenheimer" has yet to be released in Japan, with no confirmed release date. As the film explores the debate on whether bombings ultimately led to saved lives and world peace, the ongoing clash highlights the ongoing sensitivity of the nuclear weapons issue in Japan, as reported by Variety.
