In a disturbing incident in Alipurduar, West Bengal, a 42-year-old man named Mona Roy was lynched by locals after being accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl. Police reported that the child had gone missing from her home around 3 p.m., and her body was later found in a nearby pond.

According to witnesses, the girl’s grandmother allegedly saw Roy washing blood from his hands, while other villagers claimed to have seen him with the child shortly before her disappearance. Locals gathered outside Roy’s house, where they reportedly discovered the girl’s clothing. As emotions escalated, the crowd dragged Roy out, tied him to a tree, and beat him. He was later declared dead at the hospital.
Another suspect, Bhakta Roy, surrendered at the local police station, fearing for his safety, and was subsequently arrested.
Authorities have filed a case of rape and murder under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. However, no arrests have been made concerning the lynching, and police remain tight-lipped as investigations continue.
