Chinese President Xi Jinping denies land occupation claims amidst ongoing border disputes with several countries, despite recorded conflicts and tensions, particularly with India along the border regions.
Amidst
mounting tensions and border disputes between China and several neighboring nations, Chinese President Xi Jinping made bold assertions, stating that his
country had refrained from instigating conflicts or seizing foreign territories
in the past seven decades.
During
the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, President Xi Jinping
staunchly defended China's record, emphasizing that since its establishment,
China hadn't initiated any conflicts or encroached upon foreign lands. This
statement, however, starkly contrasts with the existing border disputes China
faces with multiple countries, including India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh,
Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan.
The reality of China's territorial conflicts contradicts Jinping's claims. Recent clashes, notably between Indian and Chinese troops, particularly at Galwan, showcase instances where tensions have escalated. Incidents ensued as Chinese troops attempted to breach borders, met with strong resistance from Indian forces. Since May 2020, when Chinese troops attempted to alter the status quo along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, a standoff has persisted.

India's
proactive measures to safeguard its borders have been evident, with over 50,000
Indian soldiers stationed along the LAC equipped with advanced weaponry aimed
at thwarting any unilateral attempts by China to alter territorial boundaries.
Despite
Jinping's assertions of China's peaceful history without land occupation or
conflict initiation, the ongoing tensions and military confrontations, notably
along the Indian border, paint a contrasting picture. The presence of troops
and the history of skirmishes indicate a different reality, one where
territorial disputes and attempts at altering border statuses have persisted,
contradicting Jinping's stated narrative of China's non-aggression and
non-occupation stance.
