Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia’s refusal to accept a ceasefire, warning it deepens the conflict and blocks peace efforts. He said without willingness to stop attacks, achieving long-term coexistence will demand immense effort. The war, now in its fourth year, continues to devastate civilians and hinder humanitarian relief.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized Russia for refusing to agree to a ceasefire, warning that the ongoing stance is worsening the prospects of peace in the region. His comments came in a social media message late Saturday, as the war continues into its fourth year with no resolution in sight.
Zelensky said Moscow’s unwillingness to halt strikes shows a disregard for international appeals aimed at ending the bloodshed. He stressed that without the basic willingness to stop attacks, the pathway to peaceful coexistence between Russia and its neighbors could take significant effort and time.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that countless attempts from world leaders and institutions to broker a ceasefire have been turned down. According to him, Russia’s persistence in continuing its military operations reflects a broader unwillingness to engage in long-term stability.
The war, which began more than three years ago, has led to widespread destruction, displacement, and loss of life. Zelensky noted that the refusal to embrace even temporary calm undermines hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough and keeps the region in a cycle of uncertainty.

His statement underlines growing frustration in Kyiv as Ukraine continues to endure daily attacks. International observers warn that the absence of a ceasefire agreement complicates humanitarian efforts, leaving millions vulnerable to ongoing violence. Zelensky reiterated that genuine peace requires not only a halt to strikes but also a commitment to coexistence built on respect for sovereignty.
