10 Years of Chennai Express: Rohit Shetty Celebrates The Blockbuster With A Heartfelt Post

The action drama movie Chennai Express which had Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles celebrated its 10th anniversary on Tuesday.

In honour of this remarkable milestone, director Rohit Shetty posted a motion poster of the film on his Instagram account. Accompanying the poster was a heartfelt caption in which he extended his appreciation for the love and support the film has received over the years.

Rohit wrote, “Thank you for the love,” and also added a red heart emoji and folded hands emoji in his caption.

Although the 2013 movie met with varying opinions from critics, Chennai Express was a fusion of romance, action, and humour. It also managed to secure its place among Bollywood's highest-grossing films.

Chennai Express, whose story was built upon a narrative written by K Subash, was a result of the collaborative production efforts of producers Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Gauri Khan, and Karim Morani.

While the screenplay was penned by Yunus Sajawal, the engaging dialogues were created by Farhad-Sajid. The movie further captured widespread attention and acclaim for its song 'Lungi Dance,' a tribute to the legendary Rajnikanth, sung by Honey Singh.

The film's storyline revolves around Deepika Padukone's Meenamma, a Tamil girl, who finds herself stuck with Rahul, a North Indian man portrayed by the charismatic Shah Rukh Khan, when he boards the Chennai Express departing from Mumbai, carrying his late grandfather's ashes for immersion in Rameshwaram, while thinking that he is going to Goa.

Adding to the movie's appeal is the presence of Sathyaraj, who plays Meenamma's father in the film. Sathyaraj has been critically acclaimed for his portrayal of Kattappa in the epic 'Baahubali' series.

Seeing the remarkable success of 'Chennai Express,' director Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan again collaborated for Dilwale. However, despite their efforts, they could not recreate the success and critical acclaim that 'Chennai Express' had achieved.

Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty gets ready to step into the realm of digital streaming with his highly anticipated series titled 'Indian Police Force.' This exciting series, starring Sidharth Malhotra in the leading role, is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video.
