BJP Saharanpur chief Puneet Tyagi resigned after a Mumbai-based actress accused him of sexual exploitation. Though Tyagi denied the claims, he resigned to protect the party's image. The actress alleged a long-term relationship, but no formal police complaint or investigation has been launched yet, and Tyagi maintains his innocence.
Puneet Tyagi, the Bharatiya Janata Party's city chief in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, resigned after a Mumbai-based actress accused him of sexual exploitation. The actress, who claims to have acted in over 250 regional films, posted a video on social media alleging that Tyagi had taken advantage of her trust and intimacy over several months, which caused her immense mental distress.
In her statement, she mentioned that Tyagi had developed a close relationship with her son by frequently giving him gifts, which eventually led to an intimate relationship between them. However, Tyagi later distanced himself, leaving her emotionally devastated. Despite denying the allegations, Tyagi stepped down to prevent harm to the BJP’s image, stating in his resignation letter that he did not want the party’s reputation tarnished by such accusations.
Tyagi submitted his resignation to BJP Uttar Pradesh chief Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, asserting his innocence and expressing readiness to cooperate with any party decision. While the accusations have garnered public attention, no police complaint has been filed against Tyagi, and no formal investigation has been initiated.
